Funktion* is the first smart clothing product platform for fashion brands that eliminates the whole development process. Since the textile and apparel industry has different segments, Funktion* aims to provide a modular solution that can be customized for different brands, products, and uses. This enables personalized product options and the ability to meet individual customer needs.

Funktion* believes the „smart“ in smart clothing should be more than a fashion add-on. So here are some meaningful applications that Funktion* is bringing to clothing. Including a blind spot warning for cyclists where your clothing gives you haptic feedback of objects in your danger zone. A guardian angel at work to be safer, healthier and more effectively. Or a virtual coach that monitors your posture while exercising and gives you subtle haptic feedbacks.
The main benefits of the modular approach are that the electronic parts can be taken out, reused, or recycled when the clothing reaches the end of its life. For instance, the modules can be removed and repurposed for other smart garments, while the contact grid can be separated and recycled when the clothing is no longer usable.
The current status is an alpha prototype of an motion sensing jacket through IMU sensors. Connectors are in injection molding process for serial production.
